In the French Immersion program the students receive the full mandated Alberta Learning Curriculum as their peers in the regular English program with the difference being that the material is taught in the French language. The students are also taught English language arts beginning after Christmas in Grade 2. As well, music is taught in English. The French Immersion teachers have special training in assisting children to develop their listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in a new language. The benefits of learning a second language have been well documented and are shared at our annual orientation for prospective parents in the spring. Parent knowledge of French is not necessary.

Our Kindergarten Open House,for both English and French programming,will be on April 8th, 2009 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.  This adult only evening will provide parents some insight into the dual-language programming offered at Greenview School.
