Music Program

École Greenview School is fortunate to have an outstanding music program incorporating the Orff method of teaching.  The Orff approach is wholistic, experiential and process oriented.  It is for all children, not just the most musically or intellectually gifted and encompasses aural, visual and kinesthetic learners. The Orff philosophy offers clear understandings and pedagogical principles,  It advocates “sound before symbol,” or in other words, experience first.  Ultimately, this facilitates music literacy.  The Orff elements include speech, singing, movement, creative development and instrumental play, including non pitched instruments and pitched instrument such as the xylophone and recorder.  “Tell me and I’ll forget; show me and I may remember; involve me and I’ll understand.” (Chinese proverb)

Student who enjoy singing and performing are encouraged to join the Junior or Senior Choir.  Junior Choir is open to students in grades 2 and 3 on Thursdays from 12:00 – 12:30.  Senior Choir is open to students in Division 2 on Tuesdays from 11:30 – 12:00.
